November Pinterest Board

I love holidays in general.  Don't you?  Halloween is just about my favorite, but now that it's over I'm thinking about how much I LOVE Thanksgiving!  I love the simplicity of the holiday- food, family, and giving thanks.  I also love that Thanksgiving ushers in the magical time of Christmas!

As I've said before, my creative mind works in months/holidays.  So, with a new month comes a new Pinterest board.  Here's my November board.  I've pinned a lot of fun ideas for Thanksgiving, and have more than enough pumpkin recipes to fill the entire month.  November is pumpkin month for me when it comes to baking.

The Boys of Autumn by Robert Duncan

I have one more fun thing so share with you today.  In September, I shared some of my father-in-law's fall art.  I mentioned my favorite one, but didn't have an image to share.  Well, now I do.  My father-in-law posted this on his Facebook page a few weeks ago.  This painting was done from a picture he took last fall.  My boys and I were helping (some more than others, notice one of my twins playing with a toy on the steps) rake leaves in my in-law's yard.  This is pretty much exactly what the picture looked like.  He even captured my boys' jack-o-lanterns' faces perfectly!  Not everyone gets to see their children in an original piece of artwork.  It's a special thing.  My favorite boys and my favorite time of year.  Thank you, Robert!  It's priceless!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you found a little something worth your time.

Autumn Art from Robert Duncan

If you've been following me here at Blissful Roots over the past months, then you probably know about my father-in-law (Robert Duncan).  I love ALL of his artwork, but with fall being my favorite time of year, I have to say I'm pretty partial to his autumn scenes.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Wouldn't you love one (or all) of these hanging in your home right now?  The perfect fall decor!

I did leave one fall image out of this post, and it's my absolute favorite!  It's an original sitting in my father-in-law's studio right now.  All three of my boys are in it.  They're on my in-law's front porch with jack-o'-lanterns and cornstalks.  Two of my boys are raking leaves, the other is sitting on the steps.  I don't know that it will ever go to print, but even if it doesn't, hopefully I'll be able so share a shot of it with you sometime soon.  It's perfect!

You can visit his online store by clicking here.  There are more fall scenes along with many, many others!  He also just released some brand new images for Swiss Days.  Go check them out.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Robert Duncan Art For Mother's Day

I've mentioned my father-in-law (Robert Duncan) and his art before here at Blissful Roots, and with Mother's Day approaching I couldn't not share a bit more of his work with you.  He has so many wonderful pieces with mothers and children.

Her First Garden
This is pretty much what my in-law's garden looks like in August.  Gorgeous!  It's bounteous in it's produce, and a piece of art in and of itself.

Let's Sail Away
This one is my sister-in-law and two of her three kids.

Simple Things

Another scene from the yard.  My mother-in-law loves flowers, and has so many beautiful varieties planted.

A Walk With Maya

Here's another sister-in-law with her darling daughter.

Mother And Son

If you've ever been to an OB/GYN office, or the labor and delivery floor of a hospital, you may have seen this one.  It's one of his most popular images.  This is my mother-in-law and brother-in-law (who is now 27).

I love the feeling Robert has captured in each of these pictures.  There's nothing like the relationship between a mother and her child.

I hope you take the time to do something special for the mothers in your life this weekend.  Happy Mother's Day to all you dedicated, selfless, irreplaceable mothers out there!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you found a little something worth your time.

A Winter's Chill

I have an extremely talented father-in-law!  You may have heard of him.  It's fun to hear the grand kids talk about him at times, "Did you know Poppy is famous?".  Well, he is.  My husband works at his art gallery where they sell his artwork. They also ship orders from there as well.  They ship all over the world.
So many of his prints are perfect for this time of year.  I put together a few (well... not so few, it was hard to narrow it down) of may favorites here.  You can go visit robertduncanstudios.com to see all of his prints, cards, calendars, puzzles, and originals.  All of the prints I've posted are available at his sight.  The top picture (A Winter's Chill) is and original, but all of the others are either prints or cards.  These make great gifts!

O Christmas Tree

The only complaint I hear of those who have his work in their homes is that they don't have enough wall space for all the ones they want.  I feel the same.  I'm glad he has a lot of seasonal prints, it makes it fun to switch them throughout the year.

I have even been in a couple of his paintings.  It's kind of cool to see yourself painted.
